Rick Fingeret (67) from Naples in Collier County, Florida, was surprised by an alligator on Friday evening while walking his two Labradors. He grabbed him by the leg and wouldn’t let go. Fingeret called for help from his neighbor Walter Rudder and his car.

The alligator, measuring about 3.35 meters, wanted to drag Fingeret into the water, but then the victim saw his neighbor and waved him over. “I was driving back home when I saw someone lying on the ground, waving his arm,” Rudder told local TV station WINK. “I drove her to him and didn’t realize an alligator had bit him on the leg and had the leg in his mouth.”

Fingeret lay on the ground and said he repeatedly hit the crocodile on the head, but the animal continued to bite the man’s leg. So he desperately asked Rudder to drive the car over the alligator. That’s what the neighbor did. The alligator then released Fingeret’s leg and rushed away to a nearby pond.

Fingeret is now recovering in hospital. His two dogs were unharmed. The alligator was captured and transferred to another area.
