Putin made the statement during a meeting with top officials from the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs. “It is important not only to identify the direct perpetrators (the four main suspects are already in jail, as are seven suspected accomplices, ed.), but all links in the chain, including the sponsors of this crime,” he said. “We will definitely get them.”

According to Putin, the direct perpetrators will eventually turn against their clients, if they are paid enough. “Whoever uses this weapon against Russia must realize that crime against payment is a double-edged sword,” he said. “There is no such thing as a trustworthy criminal. They do everything for the money. Everything can be bought and sold easily enough, including information. So we will certainly find out who ordered the attack.”

The attack in Moscow happened on March 22. Armed men then invaded a large concert hall. They shot into the crowd and set the building on fire. According to the latest assessment of the emergency services, more than 144 people were killed and 551 others were injured in the attack. It was claimed by the jihadist group IS (Islamic State).
