Ponson was born in Aruba and lived there for a long time. He also lived in Colombia for a time. He had three children from two relationships in the Antilles and in Colombia.

He had lived for years on the ground floor of the Gravestein flat, close to the Gliphoeve farm and Ganzenhoef metro station, and, according to insiders, was loved in the neighborhood, also because of his helpfulness. For example, he helped local residents and others who asked for help with their tax returns.

Neighbors held a memorial meeting shortly after his death with dozens of people in attendance. The funeral was private. None of those present or other witnesses were able to tell police why Ponson was killed. The police still have many questions about Ponson’s death and are still looking for information about his actions in the days before his death. She calls on witnesses to come forward.

An acquaintance called the police on Saturday, March 30, because he could not get in touch with Ponson, while this was normally not difficult. Officers broke open his house that afternoon and found him dead. He was obviously killed, although the investigation team does not yet want to reveal any details about the cause of death. He was last seen alive on March 28. Exactly when he died is still being investigated.
