Closing of working year 2023 – 2024

All Urania members and students are very welcome to the closing of the academic year on Tuesday evening, May 14, at 8 p.m.

We briefly look back on the past academic year and discuss the upcoming spring and summer activities.

We are then treated to a talk by an astrophysicist Gerard Bodifee themed: “Sublime Universe – an impressionistic view of the cosmos”

The impression that the universe makes on people is one of grandiose beauty. What happens in the universe is often more than beautiful, it is horrifying, overwhelming, elusive, a fascination that attracts and repels at the same time. In the 21st century, we look at the universe through a new generation of space telescopes that reach into the very depths of outer space and what we see there surpasses anything previously imagined. Gigantic bursts of energy at the centers of galaxies, brilliant spinning galaxies and colliding black holes or neutron stars are revealed before our eyes, confronting us with a new view of the universe.

To conclude, we offer you a Snack and a beverage On.

Participation in this membership activity is FREE for members, students and their families. For organizational reasons, pre-registration is required via THIS REGISTRATION FORM obliged.

PS for our youngest members and students (Star Fluff, Star Dust, Star Pickers and Youth Students) there is Saturday morning, May 25 another separate graduation ceremony!
