Microsoft is rolling out Microsoft Store ads in the Start menu to all Windows 11 users with a new update.

Microsoft will now start showing ads in the Start menu on Windows 11. The company started distributing the update KB5036980 to all Windows 11 users this week. The ads will mainly involve recommendations for apps from the Microsoft Store. For non-enthusiasts, the advertisements are easy to disable.

Advertisements or recommendations

The ads in the Windows 11 Start menu, which Microsoft previously calls “recommendations”, will be available once you download the KB5036980 update. Microsoft experimented with these recommendations two weeks ago, but is now coming up with an official release.
