Insider j0nathan, who broke the news about Far Cry 7 a few days ago, has now posted a comment about Ubisoft’s other franchise, Watch Dogs. According to j0nathan, Ubisoft has put Watch Dogs on hold.
Watch Dogs 4 or a remake of an old game is not in development at Ubisoft. The French giant had high hopes for the latest game called Watch Dogs Legion, but that game sold below expectations. That is why Ubisoft has decided to put the franchise on hold for the time being and focus on other games. According to j0nathan, a Watch Dogs multiplayer spin-off game was in development, a Battle Royale game. That project has been canceled, which means that there are currently no Watch Dogs projects in development at the various studios within Ubisoft.

The French publisher currently has many games in development. There is a chance that Ubisoft will return to Watch Dogs later when some of the projects below are completed.

- Assassin’s Creed Codename Red
- Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade
- Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe
- Splinter Cell Remake
- Beyond Good and Evil 2
- Prince of Persia The Sands of Time Remake
- Tom Clancy’s The Division 3
- Xdefiant
- Far Cry 7 (rumored to be in development)
- Far Cry multiplayer spin-off (rumored to be in development)
- New Prince of Persia game with roguelike elements (rumored to be in development)
- Ghost Recon mainline entry (rumored to be in development)
- Assassin’s Creed Invictus (rumored to be in development)
- Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Remake (rumored to be in development)
Ubisoft will hold an annual Forward presentation on June 10, 2024. The games of 2024 and possibly also 2025 will then be briefly presented.
