Bandai Namco has announced the release date for Tekken 8’s first DLC character. The first DLC character will be Eddy Gordo and players won’t have to wait long to battle him.

Eddy Gordo will be available to owners of the Playable Character Year 1 Pass on April 1, 2024. There is also the option to purchase the character separately, but then you will have to wait a few more days. Bandai Namco has announced that Eddy Gordo will be available separately from April 5.

For players familiar with Tekken, Eddy Gordo will not be a newcomer. Eddy Gordo first appeared in Tekken 3 and has been playable in every new Tekken game since. It is therefore no surprise to many that he also appears in Tekken 8.

The trailer below shows the first gameplay footage of Eddy Gordo in Tekken 8. We see him once again using his iconic capoeira fighting style. Of course, he also has all kinds of new skills. It will be clearer at release how much his gameplay differs from his version in Tekken 7.

Eddy Gordo is the first DLC character for Tekken 8 and part of the Playable Character Year 1 Pass. In addition to Eddy Gordo, three other DLC characters will appear as part of the Year 1 Pass. It is currently unknown which other characters will appear as DLC.

Tekken 8 was released in January 2024 and was generally very positively received. In fact, the game sold more than two million copies in about a month. Players were especially happy with the amount of content and depth of gameplay. For example, Tekken 8 had 32 playable characters at release. Compared to other fighting games, the range was a lot larger.

Tekken 8 is available for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X. We gave Tekken 8 a review score of 9 out of 10. Read our extensive review here.
