Two police officers and several civilians were attacked with a sword in northeast London. The incident took place at the Hainault metro station. Police confirm that a 36-year-old suspect was arrested. He reportedly acted alone. There would be no terrorist act.

The images show how an officer tries to approach the perpetrator with the necessary caution. One of the victims is now lying on the ground.

“Just before 7 a.m. we received a call that a car had crashed into a house. Then followed the stabbing. The man targeted two police officers and several civilians. It is not yet clear how serious the victims are,” the police said. Five injured people were taken to hospital.

Mayor Sadiq Khan is “devastated” by the events. He announces extra patrols to reassure people, writes the BBC. Home Secretary James Cleverly expressed his condolences to all involved.
