Ukraine has hit Russia again with drone strikes. Two Rosneft oil depots exploded on an industrial estate in the Smolensk region. According to Ukrainian intelligence sources, it contained 26,000 cubic meters of fuel. The Russian regions of Lipetsk, Voronezh and Kursk have also been attacked with drones.

“Our region is again under attack by Ukrainian drones. As a result of the attack, fires broke out in the Smolensk and Yartsevo districts,” said Governor Vasily Anokhin. It was not immediately known which facility was on fire. In the Smolensk region there are no major oil refineries. Smolensk is located in western Russia, about fifty kilometers from the border with Belarus.
Igor Artamonov, governor of the neighboring Lipetsk region, said on Telegram that an industrial area there had also been attacked. According to him, no injuries were reported. He did not specify what the target was or whether any damage occurred. “But there was no threat to residential areas,” Artamonov said. According to unconfirmed reports on Telegram, there were also Ukrainian drone attacks in the Russian regions of Kursk and Voronezh.
26,000 cubic meters
There was no official response from Ukraine. Kiev rarely comments on attacks on Russian territory. Sources in the Ukrainian intelligence services say that they “continue to destroy military, energy and transport infrastructure in Russia.”
Ukraine considers oil refineries legitimate targets, despite calls from allies to halt attacks to avoid rising global oil prices and prevent Russian retaliation.
Russian air strikes
The governors of the Ukrainian regions of Kherson and Kharkiv also reported several Russian air strikes on Telegram. Both residential areas and critical infrastructure have been affected. Several people were injured.
