The horses of the Household Cavalry, part of the British army, bolted on Wednesday morning around 9:30 am local time during a daily morning training session. According to the BBC, they were startled by sounds from a construction site. They threw off their horsemen and entered the city.

At least five people have been injured, one of the victims was injured when the horse collided with a car near the Clermont Hotel. The injured are receiving medical care. One of the horses was covered in blood. According to a witness, this is because the horse had collided with the window of a car. “I was just sitting by the car with my passenger,” the witness said. “I didn’t see the horse coming and when it happened I was in complete shock. Then I saw about three or four horses. I think the white horse hit my car.” Another horse collided head-on with a parked tour bus during the flight. The windshield of the bus almost completely cracked.

Around just before 11 a.m. local time, the army announced that all horses had been captured. “A number of military workhorses became loose during a routine exercise this morning. All horses have now been recovered and returned to camp. A number of staff and horses have been injured and are receiving appropriate medical care,” it said.
