A group of bakers from a Paris suburb have managed to make a baguette – baguette – of no less than 140 meters and 53 centimeters. This saved the honor of the French nation.

At a meeting for bakers and pastry chefs in Suresnes, near Paris, a team of bakers set a new world record for baking the longest baguette. That reaches no less than 140 meters and 53 centimeters, according to an official measurement by Guinness World Records.

With this, the French leave their Italian colleagues behind. Five years ago, a baguette measuring 132 meters and 62 centimeters was baked in Como. But if there is one world record that belongs to the French, it is that of baguette with the most linear meters, in this case equal to just under half the Eiffel Tower.

“Everything has been validated, we are very happy to have broken this record and that this happened in France,” the Reuters news agency noted from Anthony Arrigault. When he’s not baking world record-breaking baguettes, he enjoys making his own first thing in the morning boulangerie Open.

There are rules to baking a real French baguette: a baguette must be about sixty centimeters long, made of wheat flour, water, salt and yeast and weigh about 250 grams. Parading it around under your arm after purchase is optional.

The bakers started the record attempt at three o’clock in the night from Saturday to Sunday. A special slow-moving oven had been built to heat up the baguette. It already looked crispy and golden brown in the photos. The minimum thickness of five centimeters was achieved.

Afterwards, the baguette was divided into pieces and distributed to the audience. The surplus went to the homeless. It is not known whether matching cheeses and wines were provided.
