Dutch developer KeokeN Interactive is laying off a large part of its staff

--

Hoofddorp-based game developer KeokeN has laid off almost all of its staff. The company says in an X-message that it has been unable to find a publisher or other work. It does want to start a Kickstarter for the game Deliver Us Home.

CEO Koen Deetman and Managing Director Paul Deetman announced a major round of layoffs for their company KeokeN via X. In March of this year it was announced that the developer had to go from 45 to 20 employees. Games Industry reports that there are now 13 people (11 full-time and 2 freelance employees) on the street. The Deetman brothers called on other developers via social media to contact them if they were looking for staff in Programming, Tech Art, Porting, Level Design, Audio, Animation, Production and Office Management.

For the international developer fair GDC, KeokN published a video in which it gave details about five games it was working on. However, the Deetman’s were unable to generate interest from publishers during the fair. The duo further states that they have not been able to find new work. According to the CEO and Managing Director, the round of layoffs is not the end of KeokeN. The two are setting up a Kickstarter campaign to release Deliver Us Home.
