AS Roma is preparing for a very difficult week with matches against Juventus, Bayer Leverkusen and Atalanta. The Romans are of course counting on Romelu Lukaku for this. In the meantime, it is far from clear where the Red Devil will play next season.

After ending up sidetracked at Manchester United, Lukaku went to Italy for the first time in the summer of 2021. That’s how Lukaku moved to Internazionale. And that turned out to be a good choice. The Red Devil reached his best level in Milan and also won the national title.

Those performances earned him a big return to Chelsea FC in 2021. The Blues paid a lot of millions to bring the Belgian striker back. But for various reasons his passage at Stamford Bridge was disappointing. After barely a year he was loaned back to Inter.

No extended stay

After failing to reach an agreement on an extended stay in Milan last summer, Lukaku once again had to look for a solution elsewhere. And he found it again in Serie A. This time he went on loan to AS Roma. The attacker is having a strong season there.

Lukaku is in the starting eleven if fit and has now scored 19 goals and 4 assists. Nevertheless, an extended stay seems unlikely. Now that the club seems to be definitively missing out on a Champions League ticket, the financial resources are too limited for a permanent transfer.

Third Italian club?

Nevertheless, Lukaku may still be able to continue playing football in Italy. For example, transfer specialist Gianluca Di Marzio mentions a high-profile exchange deal. After all, parent club Chelsea has set its sights on Victor Osimhen. But his club Napoli demands a sky-high transfer fee. To reduce the price, the Blues are said to be working on an exchange structure. For example, they want to put a sum of 80 to 90 million euros on the table for Osimhen, and Lukaku and one of the younger Chelsea players must also make the opposite move. Giovanni Manna, the new sporting director in Naples, would already see the Belgian coming.
