It is now also possible to log in to WhatsApp with passkeys. WhatsApp reports this to users, several media report. The feature will be rolled out to all iOS users in the coming week. Passkeys have been available on WhatsApp for Android for about six months.

This is how you turn it on

To enable passkeys, go to your app’s settings, go to Account and click the new Passkeys button. Here you can choose which verification method is used by WhatsApp.

Less dependent on mobile numbers
