This morning it was announced that Paul Gheysens is accelerating work on a new stand at the Bosuil. In the meantime, more details have also become known.

According to Het Laatste Nieuws, which has sources within and around the club, the new stand will be put into use towards the play-offs of the 2024-2025 season.

The legendary Grandstand II would be replaced by a temporary covered grandstand with at least 5,000 additional seats. Although it is still being investigated whether the capacity can even be increased to 7,000.

This would ensure that The Great Old can play the next play-offs of the Jupiler Pro League with at least 21,000 spectators at the Bosuil. That poses no problem at all with the current agreement with the Mintjens family about the land.

New sponsors

The fact that Gheysens wants to build a new stand at the Bosuil once again shows that his intention is not to sell the club. The funds raised from the sale of some players would also go to the club and not to the stands.

Moreover, the newspaper adds, additional sponsors would be brought in. This would involve several large companies, meaning that the club would be completely self-sustaining next year without transfers.
