The 31-year-old Slovak who was beaten half to death with a hockey stick at dance café Circosia last weekend is still in a critical condition. Two employees of the café, who are in jail for attempted murder, claim that the victim had harassed some dancers, which derailed the situation.

In the night from Friday to Saturday, the victim, a 31-year-old Slovak, together with a comrade, put the flowers outside in dance café Circosia in Blankenberge. Some dancers from the revue temple Het Witte Paard were also present in the case. According to Blankenbergenaar SV (29) and Bredenaar HA (38), who worked in the business as waiter and clearer respectively, the Slovak and his mate harassed the girls and were therefore put at the door. However, the Slovak returned, after which he was again put outside. He then pulled out a knife.
HA intervened again and was wounded in the left hand by the weapon. The Slovak fled away, after which HA and SV, together with a third person – presumably a customer – gave chase. A new confrontation followed further on in which the Slovak was badly beaten with a hockey stick, which was taken from the dance cafe. He ended up in hospital in critical condition where he is still fighting for his life.
HA and SV were arrested on the spot on suspicion of attempted murder. Later, the third suspect was also arrested. HA and SV appeared before the court on Friday, but it postponed its decision on their further detention to Tuesday. Then the third person involved – a 34-year-old man from Bredene – will also appear before the court. HA and SV already deny having dealt the blows with the hockey stick.
