Johan De Vlieger, CEO of residential project developer and contractor company Bostoen from Ghent, succeeds Karel Derde as chairman of Embuild East Flanders.

Karel Derde (54), managing director of Derde Construct from Wichelen, took on the role of chairman of the then Construction Confederation of the Province of East Flanders in April 2018. Six years later he passed the torch to Johan De Vlieger (53). The official chairmanship transfer took place today on the occasion of the statutory general meeting of Embuild East Flanders.

Johan De Vlieger is deeply rooted in the construction and real estate world. He has been active at Bostoen for more than a quarter of a century and, among other things, is a director at the Professional Association of the Real Estate Sector (BVS).

Within Embuild, he has been taking active management roles for more than fifteen years at Embuild East Flanders at provincial level and at the Federation of Developers-Housing Builders at national level. ‘I know the house and what the challenges are within our construction sector. I hope to be able to put my experience and network fully at the service of our member contractors in East Flanders to support them with the many future challenges in our construction sector,” says Johan De Vlieger.
