KRALENDIJK – Fundashon Cas Boneriano (FCB) and Mental Health Caribbean (MHC) signed an agreement on Tuesday for the realization of a completely new building for the mental health foundation on the island.

“Today we are signing the agreement for the construction of a new building, where all offices with different departments will be located. MHC has grown strongly in recent times. This also has to do with the growth on Bonaire since 10-10-10,” says MHC director Eric Jansen.

There has been an increase in psychiatric cases on the island and around 400 people visit the Fundashon Mariadal clinic. According to Jansen, a new building is therefore needed that is centrally located and where all departments can work together.

“FCB and MHC have a very good and long-standing working relationship and that is why we are very happy to carry out this project for them,” adds FCB director Ben Oleana. This is a project totaling $2.8 million.

The new two-storey building will be constructed close to the FCB office itself and also close to the Bonaire ScholenCommunity building. “We will get to work as quickly as possible so that the building will be ready within a short time,” says Oleana.
