always electric and up to 400 kilometers of range –

--

Meet Mini’s first crossover that is always completely electric. This is the Mini Aceman, which is considerably smaller than the new Countryman. The Mini Aceman will come to the Netherlands this year and squeezes a range of 400 kilometers from its battery pack.

Highlights Mini Aceman

  • Up to more than 400 kilometers electrically
  • Much smaller than the Countryman
  • Coming this year

More than a year and a half ago, Mini conjured up the Concept Aceman. With that study model, Mini sent a clear signal: there will be a crossover under the Countryman. You didn’t exactly have to have a vivid imagination in 2022 to see a production model in the Concept Aceman. The conceptual gloss has been removed and the Mini Aceman is now completely ready for the market. It is considerably smaller than its big brother Countryman, but is also quite different from that model on a technical level.

Mini Aceman

First of all, the size. To make room for the arrival of the Mini Aceman, the Countryman grew considerably during its last generation change. The now third generation Mini Countryman grew in length by 13 centimeters to 4.43 meters. And the Aceman? It is well below that. With its car length of 4.08 meters, the Aceman is a few centimeters larger than the Concept Aceman, but it is no less than 35 centimeters shorter than the Countryman. To put that length into perspective: the Aceman is 15 centimeters shorter than the already compact Volvo EX30 and is almost as big as the very first generation of the Countryman that debuted more than 14 (!) years ago.

The right to exist is of course not only due to the fact that the Countryman is now a size larger. Mini’s more compact hatchbacks also play a role in this. With the new Cooper E and SE, Mini introduced a brand new electric three-door hatchback last year on a new platform developed together with the Chinese Great Wall. The ‘old’ three- and five-door models of the Mini hatchback recently went under the knife and will continue to serve as a petrol alternative for several years to come, with design elements from the new model and a new name. There will not be an electric five-door hatchback, that’s why Mini came up with the Aceman. Its wheelbase is 2.61 meters. For comparison: the electric Coopers have 2.53 meters between the axles, the Countryman 2.69 meters.

Electric only

Unlike the larger Mini Countryman, which is also available as Countryman C with petrol engines, the Mini Aceman is only available with electric powertrains. So you can really see it as the slightly higher five-door alternative to the electric Mini Cooper E and SE. Just like those hatchbacks, the Mini Aceman is also available with two power sources for the time being. The party starts with Aceman E with a 42.5 kWh battery and a 184 hp and 290 Nm powerful electric motor on the front axle. Above that is the Mini Aceman SE. It has a 52.4 kWh battery pack and benefits from 218 hp and 330 Nm of electric power. The Mini Aceman E zooms from a standstill to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds and has a top speed of 160 km/h. The more powerful Mini Aceman SE only needs 7.1 seconds for the 0-100 sprint and has a top speed of 170 km/h.

More important than sprint figures: the range. The Mini Aceman E has a range of 310 kilometers. The Mini Aceman SE with the larger battery pack should be able to travel 406 kilometers on a full battery. Fast charging is possible with the Aceman E up to 75 kW. With the Aceman SE up to 95 kW.
