Jelle Vossen was named ‘most deserving player of the season’ at Zulte Waregem for the second time in three seasons. The Belgian striker was clearly happy with the title, but wants to focus on the play-offs as quickly as possible.

“That token of recognition is always nice, especially when it comes from your own supporters. This is now the second time in the past three years that they have chosen me, so they will appreciate me, right?” said Vossen about his election as ‘most deserving player of the season’ at The Importance of Limburg.

Promotion

“You feel a lot of mutual respect and I am very happy with that, but now I just want to get two more rounds further in these Promotion Play-offs,” the striker continued. Zulte Waregem drew 1-1 against Lommel on Saturday, the second match is scheduled for Wednesday.

And Lommel will once again prove to be a tough customer. The Limburgers, who finished fourth in the regular competition, secured a nice starting position on the Essevee field.

“Let’s first focus on the return in Lommel, because that will also be a very exciting match,” Vossen puts his and his team’s feet on the ground. “Our away reputation no longer plays a role, everyone starts again from scratch.”

In the other match of the Promotion Play-Offs, Deinze will face Patro Eisden. Deinze won the first leg convincingly 0-4 last Saturday.
