News: Kia announces prices for the new Sorento

--

At the front, a new hood design provides more volume and a bolder front. The striking vertical headlights, the ‘Star Map’ daytime running lights, the dynamic turn signals and the newly designed radiator grille with a 3D mesh pattern underline the design. The restyled front bumper gives it extra robustness and self-confidence. Striking accents in the bumper are the wide skid plate, the new fog lights and the vertical air intake profile.

On the side, the new wheel designs (standard from now on 19-inch) and the new mudguards stand out. The new rear lights, with their ‘Star Map’ design, are completely in harmony with the vertical headlights and are equipped with diagonal LEDs. The high-mounted narrow third brake light underlines the Sorento’s appearance, while the restyled rear bumper adds a rugged edge. The latter is further enhanced by the skid plate and the black trim parts.

The new Sorento will be available in ten exterior colors, three of which are new: Volcanic Sand, Interstellar Gray and Cityscape Green.

Durable materials

The renewed interior strives for a feeling of space with its redesigned dashboard and spacious dimensions. From the DynamicPlusLine onwards, the Sorento has a curved instrument cluster with a multi-mode touchscreen for operating the climate control and navigation. The wide, horizontal design is accentuated by a narrow mood lighting strip, with a choice of 64 colors. This mood lighting is also reflected in the newly designed gear knob and in the front doors.

The integrated dual curved displays combine a 12.3-inch navigation and infotainment touchscreen with a 12.3-inch instrument cluster in front of the driver. The Sorento ExecutiveLine is also equipped with a 10-inch head-up display.

From now on, the ExecutiveLine is equipped with new multi-adjustable front relaxation seats with Aircell lumbar support and memory function. To increase comfort, Kia has also adjusted the suspension and improved sound insulation.

The updated Kia Sorento offers 7 seats as standard. The ExecutiveLine is now also offered as a 6-seater variant with two separate seats in the 2nd row.

Equipment

The infotainment system can be operated via the multi-mode touchscreen and provides online navigation including Kia Connect, Live Services, Voice Recognition and Bluetooth. The climate control has fully automatic temperature control with two zones. The system is designed so that Kia can send software and map updates to the car over the air, eliminating the need for a visit to the dealer.

The Sorento ExecutiveLine is equipped with fingerprint recognition. This allows the driver to link a user profile. This can also be used to activate valet mode, as an alternative to entering the PIN code. Sorento drivers can also use their smartphone as a smart key with the digital key 2.0.

The Sorento also has news in store for driver assistance, including Highway Driving Assist 2.0 with Lane Change Assist and Surround View Monitor (SVM) with 3D function. Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist 2.0 is also now available for the Sorento. This system assists, among other things, with crossing traffic, oncoming traffic (also during lane changes) and the passing of pedestrians and cyclists, for example.

The new automatic tailgate offers greater convenience by automatically closing the tailgate when the driver walks away from the car.

Available in three versions, always as a Plug-in Hybrid

The Sorento Plug-in Hybrid for model year 2024 is equipped as standard in the Netherlands with the existing 1.6 T-GDI petrol engine that is linked to a 13.8 kWh battery, a six-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. It has a combined power of 252 hp (185 kW), a theoretical electric range of 55 km and a towing capacity of 1,000 kg.

Kia’s large SUV is available in the Netherlands in three different versions. The DynamicLine is equipped with, among other things, adaptive cruise control with navigation support, highway assistance, electrically adjustable, heated and folding exterior mirrors, heated front seats, heated steering wheel, front and rear parking sensors and a 12.3-inch full map navigation system including Kia Connect and Live Services. It stands on 19-inch alloy wheels and is finished on the inside with fabric and leather look in Sage Green and Gray.

In addition to additional assistance systems, the DynamicPlusLine also adds a number of features, including electrically adjustable front seats, an electrically operated tailgate with auto-close function, a Bose “Premium” Sound System, the 12.3-inch curved instrument display and an electrically operated panoramic roof. It stands out with its privacy glass, the ‘Style’ leather upholstery and the extensive interior lighting.

In addition to the DynamicPlusLine, the ExecutiveLine offers fingerprint recognition, seat ventilation in the front seats, the digital key 2.0, a 360-degree camera, a head-up display, a blind spot camera and intelligent rear parking assistance. The seats are finished in black nappa leather and this version can also be ordered as a 6-seater. In that case, the rear seat is replaced by a configuration with two ‘captain chairs’.

Prices

The updated Sorento Plug-in Hybrid will be in the showrooms of Dutch Kia dealers from mid-June. The Sorento is now available as DynamicLine from € 56,195. The DynamicPlusLine and ExecutiveLine have a starting price of €60,295 and €64,895 respectively. The six-person version of the ExecutiveLine has an additional cost of € 1,000.
