With the latest Photoshop beta version, Adobe wants to eliminate the white canvas that everyone starts with. Via text input you can now create a starting image to build on.

A year after launching generative AI in Photoshop, Adobe is expanding its AI tools in the latest beta version of the program. The most important innovation is AI via text input. With this, Adobe hopes to lower the barrier to getting more out of Photoshop for both professionals and casual users.

Erin Boyce, marketing manager at Adobe, puts it nicely on Engadget. “A big, blank canvas can sometimes be the biggest barrier. Generative AI accelerates the time to creation. The idea of ​​getting something from your head onto the canvas has never been easier.”

The new feature is simply called ‘Generate Image’ and will be available as an option in Photoshop in addition to the traditional option that lets you import images into the app.

At the same time, Adobe is adding many other AI functions and other novelties. We have listed the most important ones below:

  • Reference Image helps creatives achieve the output they imagine, using user-selected images as generative inspiration.
  • Text to Image with Generate Image go from blank page to content with full text-to-image input right in Photoshop.
  • Generate Background replaces and creates backgrounds, making it easier than ever to generate content that blends seamlessly with existing images.
  • Generate Similar lets creators iterate with variations they select to expand on creation ideas with more precise control.
  • EnhanceDetail refines images to improve sharpness and clarity.

It’s not all AI that matters in Photoshop. Adobe also provides a number of new tools to make design and creation easier. These are the most important innovations:

  • With the Adjustment Brush allows users to easily apply non-destructive adjustments to specific parts of images.
  • The improved one fontbrowser provides real-time access to more than 25,000 fonts in the Adobe cloud without leaving Photoshop
  • Adjustment Presets allow designers to effortlessly change the look of images with filters that apply effects with one click and with the ability to create and save custom presets as well.
