Ewen Costiou – 1 euro point

Many players choose to fill their bank with riders worth one euro point in WielerFlits Team Leader. One of the best choices you can make is to choose Ewen Costiou. Who?! Exactly, Costiou. The 21-year-old French climber from Arkéa-B&B Hotels has a free role and will make his Grand Tour debut in the Giro.

He has won places of honor this season, albeit in smaller competitions (except for Paris-Nice, seventeenth in the final rankings). Still, he is in great shape. Only eleven riders on the provisional start list of the Giro d’Italia have scored more UCI points than Costiou in the last 28 days. Want to have a possible stage hijacker in your team for one euro point if Tadej Pogačar decides to take it easy? Take Costiou!

flag-si Luka Mezgec – 1 euro point

If you are looking for very cheap sprinters for one euro point, you will be disappointed in WielerFlits Team Leader in this edition of the Giro game. There are hardly any sprinters available that you can use as filler for your team. One of them is Luka Mezgec. The 35-year-old Slovenian starts as lead out – as has often been the case in the past – and this time he does so for Caleb Ewan.

He must The Pocket Rocket help you achieve stage victories. The problem for Ewan is that he started eleven Grand Tours in his career, but only finished three. At Mezgec you don’t have to have any doubts about that. He started thirteen and only finished two. But the most important thing is that he won points in WielerFlits Team Leader in twelve of his major tours.

flag-it Filippo Fiorelli – 2 euro points

Many players will quickly opt for Giulio Pellizzari, the 20-year-old top talent from VF Group-Bardiani-CSF Faizanè, in the one euro pointers. He rode a strong Tour of the Alps and is making his debut in the Giro. But it wouldn’t be the first time that what you see in that preparation race is repeated in the Giro. If you want to make a different choice than the majority of players, you can also consider Pellizzari’s teammate Filippo Fiorelli.

He is 29 years old and is starting his fifth Giro. In recent years he was a great rider to have in your team during the Italian Grand Tour. He has always been good for four or five stages in the points. Admittedly not much, but of the two Europunters he is one of which you know in advance that he will deliver.

flag-ee Madis Mihkels – 2 euro points

At Intermarché-Wanty they focus on Biniam Girmay in the sprints. However, they still have a quick ace up their sleeve. The very young Estonian Madis Mihkels (20 years old) is making his Grand Tour debut, but he does have a strong sprint in his legs. In addition, he has substance, otherwise you wouldn’t finish tenth in the fastest Paris-Roubaix ever, a few weeks ago.

Mihkels also achieved several places of honor in other competitions this spring and last season. If Girmay does not give up for whatever reason – after his serious crash in Dwars Door Vlaanderen he only rode the Tour of Flanders – then the young Estonian seems to be ready to seize his chance. And who knows, maybe they will pull his card anyway, in the many sprint opportunities that lie ahead in this Giro.

flag-us William Barta – 2 euro points

With two long individual time trials ahead of this Giro, it is not an unnecessary luxury to put one specialist on your bench for few points. Someone who always does well in that respect is Wiliam Barta. The 28-year-old American from Movistar is an excellent time trialist and often comes to the top, especially in the big tours. Earlier this year he took his first professional victory in the Tour of Valencia, by single-handedly staying ahead of the sprinting peloton.

His most impressive result was in the 2020 Vuelta a España. Then he was only one beat short of Primož Roglič in a climbing time trial to the Mirador de Ézaro. The first time trial in the upcoming Giro is somewhat comparable to the same time trial. Can Barta strike again?
