RSC Anderlecht drew 2-2 against Zulte Waregem in the practice match. It was the return of Majeed Ashimeru and Francis Amuzu. Will Brian Riemer use them again?

Amuzu is back

Amuzu’s return is a blessing for Anderlecht. It now has two explosive wing attackers, who can play on the left and right. Nilson Angulo has also performed well in recent months. Riemer therefore has more substitution options. He should no longer bring Mario Stroeykens or Yari Verschaeren to the wing if there are injuries or suspensions for Thorgan Hazard and Anders Dreyer.

Amuzu can be an important weapon if Anderlecht has to counter at the end or if it needs a flash to still go for a point or a win. He will mainly be used as a substitute.

Ashimeru and… Diawara

Ashimeru is back in midfield. However, he should have few illusions. The Ghanaian will hardly get a chance to play. He came on eagerly against Essevee and, as we are used to, he brought a lot of drive and depth. Once you have the ball, however, things go wrong too often in the final zone. That point remains a sensitive issue.

Ashimeru, who may be cashed in in the summer with only one year left on his contract, has a lot of competition. He can play on the ‘8’ and guys like Théo Leoni, Thomas Delaney and Mario Stroeykens are preferred there. He could also play as number ’10’, but Brian Riemer can then choose Mario Stroeykens, Thorgan Hazard and Yari Verschaeren. Although the latter has been out for a few weeks. Ashimeru seems likely to play a supporting role in the play-offs at most.

Oh yes, Amadou Diawara also came on against Essevee. He is no longer counted on at all in Lotto Park.
