Former film producer Harvey Weinstein (72) has been admitted to a hospital in New York. According to Weinstein’s lawyer Arthur Aidala, he must undergo a number of tests due to his poor health. “He’s a wreck,” Aidala says.

Weinstein has been struggling with his health for years. He suffers from heart problems, diabetes, sleeping problems and eye problems, among other things.

The highest appeals court in New York decided on Thursday that the former film producer’s conviction for sexual abuse in 2020 will be overturned. According to the court, Weinstein did not have a fair trial. Prosecutors had been allowed to bring several women to testify accusing him of misconduct, for which he was not prosecuted at the time. Those testimonies would have hindered a fair trial, it is said.

Weinstein was sentenced to 23 years in prison in New York. The former film boss is also currently serving a sixteen-year prison sentence that he received in California. It now remains to be seen whether the lawsuit will have to take place again in New York now that the court has annulled the ruling.
