Club Brugge gets the lead in gift packaging

Sabbe kicked a cross that both McKenzie and goalkeeper Vandevoordt could easily reach, but there was clear miscommunication and the ball went against the ropes. After the break, Genk looked for an equalizer, but again could not put together any clear-cut opportunities. On the contrary, the visitors doubled their lead halfway through the second half after a sharp counter. Sabbe skimmed the right flank and served Vetlesen who placed the ball nicely next to the post.

The cups went down at Genk and Club Brugge pushed the accelerator a little further. Vetlesen served Thiago and he headed the 0-3 against the ropes. The Genk defense excelled in absence. Zeqiri, who came on for Tolu, headed onto the post and thus failed to make an honor saver for the Limburgers.

After this victory, Club Brugge is currently in the lead, jumping over Anderlecht, which will come into action later. Nicky Hayen’s troops convince in the Champions’ Play-offs and are the title candidate par excellence. Genk suffered another big blow after the 4-0 defeat in Bruges.
