About 500 Flemish young people are waiting for puberty blockers. Since 2022, even general practitioners have been allowed to prescribe these inhibitors. But the medicine is receiving criticism. Some are concerned about its side effects and believe that it pushes young people in a certain direction too quickly. According to the other, thanks to the inhibitors, young people have more time to decide whether they want to continue their transition process.
