What had seemed clear for several weeks is now completely certain: Demi Vollering will soon leave Team SD Worx-Protime. The team has now confirmed this and even issued a strong statement.

Full-time left at SD Worx

It was GCN that broke the news this afternoon that Vollering would be leaving the team. As mentioned, that suspicion was already alive, given that Lotte Kopecky recently signed a new long-term contract with a significant pay increase. It was therefore conceivable that it would be financially difficult to keep two riders of that caliber on board.

“Everyone knows that Lotte has signed a new contract until 2028 and we have made every effort to keep her with the team. It’s different with Demi, I think it will be difficult. It’s about budget, indeed. Sometimes you have to make choices and I think it is clear that we cannot keep two riders of that level,” said sports director Danny Stam.

Management Vollering does not respond

A little later, SD Worx-Protime also confirmed the message via social media. Although they claim that the ball was in Vollering’s court. “We made a generous offer to Demi Vollering and said it had to be answered by a certain date.”

“However, Vollering’s management did not do this. That is why we assume that Vollering will leave the team at the end of this year. The reports in the media that we had already met with Demi or her management are not correct,” he continued.

And so it seems with certainty that Vollering’s story at SD Worx-Protime will come to an end after this season. According to Dutch journalist Thijs Zonneveld, Lidl-Trek is already showing interest.
