Today Deinze is battling it out for the first time with Lommel for the possible third promotional ticket. The winner of that double confrontation still has to play against the number 2 of the play-downs in 1A. SK Deinze is a surprise by the way.

There were more things in the Challenger Pro League that defied the laws of football this season. Beerschot, which played champions with a budget of an apple and an egg. SK Beveren and Zulte Waregem who never really played despite their big ambitions and budgets.

But Deinze? That is a team where a few hundred people (an average of 855 supporters) are in the stands every week. However, it is a very ambitious club, especially because of the owners from Singapore.

ACA Football Partners took over the club in 2022 and is a major player in the Asian market. Their ambitions were already announced at that time: to obtain a PhD within three years. And they were willing to do something for that.

A lot of money has already been pumped into the club, but they want to release another 50 million for, among other things, a new stadium. And if they don’t manage to get promoted this season, they will want to put together an even stronger core next season.

After all, they want to play in the top five of 1A within five years. That’s not bad in terms of ambitions for a provincial team that doesn’t really attract the masses.
