Three dead at suspected drug lab in Poederlee, fourth victim in life-threatening condition (Lille)

Three people have been killed in a suspected drug lab in Lille. Our editors learned this from a good source. A fourth victim is in life-threatening condition and is being resuscitated.

The drug lab was found above a pizzeria and a liquor store on the Poederleeseweg, just outside the village center of Poederlee. The emergency services arrived en masse, but in the meantime the fire brigade is already leaving.

In the meantime, civil protection has also arrived with fences to completely close off the building.

According to the public prosecutor’s office, it is still too early to communicate, but according to a reliable source, three people have died and a fourth victim is still being resuscitated. Neighbors say that they usually see little movement in and around the buildings.

Marleen Peeters (N-VA), mayor of Lille: “Like everyone in our municipality, I am very shocked. When I saw the flashing lights of the emergency services, I first thought that a serious traffic accident had happened on the road to Herentals. It turned out to be a drug lab with three people who died. We had not received any reports of suspicious matters there in recent months. The drug lab is located next to a gas station. In some ways I’m glad that the lab has now been discovered. Last year, a cannabis plantation was found in a former kebab shop in the center of Lille, but as far as I know, a chemical lab for pills is the first time.”

Guy Peeters is the manager of brasserie D’Achtste Zaligheid. Only a gas station separates its business from the building where the facts took place. “Like everyone in the neighborhood, I am very shocked. Normally I am the first in the neighborhood to have seen strange things or to write down possibly suspicious license plates, but I had not seen anything strange around the drinks store.”
