A 13-year-old boy has been killed in a stabbing attack in north-east London. Four injured people are in hospital, but according to the police their injuries are not life-threatening. British police have arrested a man armed with a sword in London.
A police official stated during a press conference that the boy was taken to hospital and died a short time later. The other victims are two civilians and two police officers who responded to a report of the incident in the suburb of Hainault. The officers have “significant injuries” and require surgery.
The 36-year-old man was arrested after police were called to reports of a vehicle crashing into a house near the station, the Metropolitan Police said in a statement. The police say they see no indications of a terrorist motive.
“This must have been a terrifying incident for those involved. I know people in general are shocked and worried,” said Assistant Commissioner Ade Adelekan of the Metropolitan Police. “But we think there is no longer a threat.”
“I am being regularly informed of the incident at Hainault Station this morning,” James Cleverly, the UK Home Secretary, said on X. “My thoughts are with those affected.”
