Union SG lost 1-0 on Monday evening. Coach Alexander Blessin saw that it was not right and explains what went wrong.

“We are a bit disappointed with the result,” Union coach Alexander Blessin starts his press conference. “We lost the game in the first half. We showed two faces.”

Union started the match much worse than KRC Genk and found it difficult to recover. Tolu was able to give his team the deserved lead shortly before the half hour. After this, the visitors found it difficult to create opportunities.

“We gave them many opportunities to press. We were too slow in the build-up. Genk then gets a more and more good feeling in the match, then it becomes difficult.”

“Genk was not sure about the Champions’ Play-offs a few weeks ago. Now they can play them without losing anything and they did that,” he continues.

Blessin also explains what went wrong against Genk. “We played with the handbrake on a bit. If you haven’t played for two weeks it is always difficult.”

“We had problems starting the match with a lot of intensity. That’s also the reason why we lost. We have to do better now, and certainly next week.
