Scoutsfest, the festival for scouts from 10 to 14 year old scouts, filled the courtyard of Fort 4. The event was a study assignment for several students who are already looking forward to a sequel.

Scout groups from all over Flanders descended on Fort 4 in Mortsel on Sunday for the Scoutsfest. DJs, bouncy castles, food trucks and challenging activities gave the young scouts their first festival experience.

“We are very satisfied,” Seppe Fabry responds at the end of Scoutsfest. “The weather was great and when you see a festival meadow filled with six hundred scout shirts dancing, you can only be happy. We feared that our audience was still a bit too young for a festival, but the DJs quickly dragged the spectators to the stage.”

Scoutsfest is part of the final project for Emma Heremans, Ruth Van Dyck, Niels Dittmer and Seppe Fabry. For their Event & Project Management course at the Karel de Grote University College, they had to organize a public event.

“By bicycle, tram, train or travel bus, the scouts came from the coast to Halle near Brussels. We still have to look at it, but we certainly like a second edition. In any case, we have set up a non-profit organization,” says Ruth Van Dyck. (fisp)
