Once again a team from the Mechelen ROM Skippers has qualified for the European rope skipping championship in Hungary. The fusion team did this by finishing second at the Double Dutch Contest Belgium. Fusion is a discipline with a lot of acrobatics, dance and gymnastics.

There are different disciplines within rope skipping. Jumpers from the Mechelen club ROM Skippers have already qualified in their category for the European championship in recent months. This will take place in Hungary in mid-July. Last weekend the fusion team Switch also managed to get a ticket for the European Championship.

Fusion is a discipline within rope skipping that combines jumping in two separately twisted ropes with acrobatics, dance and gymnastics. Stumblebums, one of the three teams within Switch, jumped to second place at the Double Dutch Contest Belgium in Ghent during the Easter weekend and thus qualified for the European Championship.

The two other teams, Sizzle and Mar-mor, also achieved great results in Ghent. “Switch has been around for seven years now and we are proud of how we have grown during that period. We are really looking forward to representing Belgium at European level,” say coaches Remy Van Beneden and Tina Mees. (svds)
