A video is circulating online showing a man transporting two seats on a Belgian highway in a perhaps creative, but above all very dangerous way.

It is not clear exactly when the images date, but according to the maker they were filmed on the A604 highway near Seraing in the province of Liège. We see a man standing on the back of a trailer, apparently without any security, holding two seats while the driver of the car drives in the left lane of the highway.

According to Stef Willems of traffic institute Vias, we see two violations of the highway code in the images. “Firstly, you are not allowed to transport passengers in a cargo box, and secondly, you are not allowed to endanger other people due to a lack of load security for what you are transporting. This concerns violations of the first and second degrees respectively, which can result in a minimum fine of 174 euros plus administration costs and can also lead to a summons. At that time it is up to the police judge to determine whether an additional fine or sanction will follow.”
