Three municipalities from the southern edge of Antwerp opened pre-registrations for their running races almost at the same time. The jogging sessions in Boechout, Mortsel and Lint this spring each have their own characteristics.
The record edition of the Ghent Marathon last weekend proves that jogging remains popular. More and more people are putting on their running shoes and the Antwerp municipality is also responding to this. Boechout, Mortsel and Lint have had their own running events for several years now, attracting hundreds of participants.
At associations and companies
The fourth edition of Boechout Trailt on Sunday April 28, last year there was exceptionally no organization, is the first in the series. During 6 or 10 kilometers of running or walking, participants discover surprising locations and buildings. “The Boechout Trailt course not only takes participants past beautiful outdoor spots, but also straight through surprising buildings. Various associations and companies will open their doors for a day especially for Boechout Trailt,” says councilor for sports Rudi Goyvaerts (Pro Boechout-Vremde).
Just under a week later, on Friday May 3, it is Mortsel Loopt’s turn. The shorter distances allow runners to discover Fort 4, while the longer distances of up to 10 kilometers include the Little Switzerland nature reserve.
Along bee locations
At the end of May, runners are welcome in Lint for the Lint Trail. On Saturday, May 25, the sporting activity will this time be part of the larger Bee Happy event. As a bee-friendly municipality, Lint is holding an information market about insects together with Kontich. That is why the Lint Trail will also pass bee-friendly locations in Kontich over 5 and 10 kilometers.
You can register with the organizations on the day itself, but the three municipalities have already opened pre-registrations. (fisp)
