If there were elections today, the Green party in Flanders could count on barely 6 percent of the votes. This is evident from a new poll by ‘RTBF’ and ‘La Libre Belgique’. Vooruit also has to take a hit, while PVDA is on the rise and is virtually the third largest party in Flanders.
Vlaams Belang continues to grow in the poll. The extreme right party reached 26 percent, followed by N-VA with 20.9 percent. The surprising third are the communists of PVDA with 12.2 percent. CD&V gets 11.6 percent, while Vooruit has to make do with 0.1 percentage points less. For the Socialists, this is the lowest result in this poll in a long time.
Open Vld still only has 10.4 percent, but is climbing out of the valley somewhat. Green has taken over the red lantern from the liberals. The party reaches barely 6 percent, which means it remains just above the electoral threshold.
In Brussels, MR remains the largest by a wide margin with 22.9 percent. The decline of the PS in the capital is striking. The Socialists only come in third place with 14.2 percent and are closely followed by PVDA (14 percent). It is Ecolo that jumped to second place with 15.5 percent. DéFI and Les Engagés follow with 7.4 and 5.4 percent.
On the Flemish side, Vlaams Belang gets 5 percent in Brussels, but it is Green that comes to 4.6 percent and N-VA drops back to 3.8 percent. Open Vld is still at barely 1.2 percent and Vooruit has to be satisfied with 1 percent.
Finally, in Wallonia, PS remains number one with 25.4 percent. MR follows with 20.8 percent, PVDA has 16 percent. Les Engagés and Ecolo have to make do with 13.9 and 12.7 percent respectively.
