A Kansas man has confessed to killing his wife in hospital. He would have done that for financial reasons.
Just before 11:30 Friday evening, Centerpoint Medical Center staff called police. They thought someone might have attacked one of their patients. The woman in question was admitted to hospital because she is a kidney patient and needed a new catheter for dialysis. When officers arrived on Friday evening, the woman was unconscious. She was still alive, but doctors said she was brain dead. The woman eventually died on Saturday.
The woman’s 75-year-old husband, named Ronnie Wiggs, was arrested on suspicion of murder. He had left the hospital on Friday evening, but his son reportedly returned him to the facility. There he confessed the facts in the hospital. “I did it. I killed her. I strangled her,” he allegedly said, according to court documents.

According to the prosecutor, he strangled his wife on Friday evening. He allegedly shielded her mouth and nose so that she was unable to call for help.
Wiggs also admitted that he had previously tried to kill his wife while she was in a rehabilitation center. But that failed. His wife woke up again and told him not to do that again. Another time he also planned to kill her, but didn’t get the chance because she was connected to different monitors.

The man was said to have been depressed and could no longer bear his wife’s care and medical costs.
