LOOK. Afghan demonstration derails in Paris

About 200 people gathered in the French capital on Saturday to remember the victims found charred in an apartment in the 18th arrondissement on April 7. According to ‘Le Parisien’, two men were shot by a tenant of the apartment, also an Afghan, who then allegedly started the fire. To save himself from the blaze, the man jumped out of the window. He also died.

But at the end of the demonstration on Saturday, riots broke out and the police had to use tear gas. Four Afghans between the ages of 23 and 29 were arrested, ‘Le Figaro’ reported.

The president of Rassemblement National (RN), Jordan Bardella, condemned the riots on X. “I am tired of our country becoming the footprint of the world,” he wrote. “A country where you can do everything with complete impunity.”

Aurélien Véron, member of the Paris City Council for Les Républicains, talked about “Kabul in Paris”.

Marion Maréchal, leader in the European elections for the far-right Reconquête party, called for “the rioters to be sent back to Afghanistan”.
