While Saïd Boumazoughe seemed like a bird to the cat at the beginning of the episode, it was Gers Pardoelen who decided to quit halfway through. The rapper had difficulty keeping up with the pace from the start.

Gers completely hung his head, to the disappointment of the special forces. “I am convinced that you are more fit than some of the other participants,” said one of the operators.

It was the devil run who killed Gers. It took place in the loose sand of the dunes. A truck started moving at walking speed. The recruits had to follow, gradually dragging all kinds of heavy objects thrown from the truck.

Gers immediately fell behind. “It’s in the mind,” he grumbled afterwards. “If you think it won’t work, it will fail.” The lights went out both physically and mentally, to the frustration of the man from Tilburg. “I don’t participate in anything just to give up halfway or fail,” he said. He hung on for a while, but then it was all over.

Saïd recovered wonderfully. He really wanted to stay. “But I fear I will pay a high price,” he said during his dip. “I have been suffering from old injuries ever since I was dropped into the sea. I didn’t think I would have this accumulation of problems already on the second day. I found myself here. The lion I thought I was while training turned out to be just a cat.” His ego was clearly shattered. But after a conversation with the special forces, his primal strength returned. So Saïd remains on board.
