BNNVara decided on Sunday evening to register a new ‘bar person’ for the popular dating program First Dates to close. A spokesperson reported this to the ANP on Monday. The enthusiasm for the position, which will become available in early 2025 because bartender Victor Abeln is going on a world trip, exceeded all expectations, the broadcaster said.

Within a week, 1,441 people registered to succeed Victor. Three quarters of the applicants are men, a quarter are women. Half a percent of potential new Victors identify themselves as gender neutral.

The producer of the program will now consider how the perfect new Victor should be chosen from these 1441 candidates. BNNVara hopes to be able to say more about the procedure in the short term.

The candidates come from all over the country, BNNVara reports. But most new bar people come from the four major cities, with Amsterdam undisputedly in first place. Furthermore, the top 10 includes Eindhoven, Alkmaar, Nijmegen, Tilburg, Haarlem and Leeuwarden.

Bartender Victor Abeln will be behind the bar for one more series in the 2024-2025 season. First Datesrestaurant stand. He has appeared in more than eight hundred episodes over the past eight years and attracted more than four thousand couples to his bar.
