A good concept should not be changed too much,’ is what Fiat must have thought when developing the new Panda. The third model generation, which will be released in 2011, retains the strengths of its predecessor and adds new qualities.

Fiat Panda body

E The new Fiat Panda is an evolution of its predecessor in every respect. Depending on the chosen version, the handy city SUV is 3.65 to 3.70 meters long and 1.55 to 1.65 meters high. The design can best be described as ’rounded square’ and is sturdy and cuddly at the same time. For extra appearance, the Panda is available with roof rails, fog lights, privacy glass, a double panoramic roof and side moldings.

In 2012, the surprisingly capable Panda 4×4 appeared, with a prototype-worthy appearance with extra bumpers, skid plates and modified bumpers that increase the approach and departure angle for off-road use. The City Cross combines the appearance of a 4×4 with a 4×2 drive. The sporty Panda Sport will make its debut in 2020. With the 2024 Pandina Special Series, the Panda begins the final stint of its production cycle.

Interior

The Panda interior is surprisingly spacious and practical. In addition to four or five seats, a split-folding rear seat, a passenger seat with folding backrest and a sliding rear seat are available. The luggage compartment measures 225-260 liters. ‘Rounded square’ is once again the dominant design theme, from the seat upholstery and dashboard to the Quartic-style steering wheel. The design and color combinations vary from moody to cheerful. The simple safety equipment is less cheerful. ESP, the City Brake Control emergency braking system and side airbags are not standard on all versions.

The Panda is available ex-factory with a radio/CD/MP3 player, Blue&Me connectivity, removable TomTom navigation, air conditioning, automatic air conditioning, seat heating and rear parking sensors. Model year 2017 brings Uconnect infotainment with phone app. After 2020, new Uconnect systems with a 5- or 7-inch color display will appear. The 2024 facelift brings a new steering wheel, a new dashboard, digital instruments and new safety and driver assistance systems.
