TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Police in central Taiwan are searching for a man recorded attacking a woman inside a claw machine arcade in Taichung’s North District.
Footage of the attack was shared to a Facebook page under the title “Taichung is really rough,” reported UDN. The security camera footage shows a young man in an orange t-shirt brutally assaulting a woman in a white jacket.
The attack occurred in the early morning of Saturday (May 4) in Yizhong shopping district. The video shows the man and woman arguing in front of one of the claw machines, but the reason for the dispute remains unclear.
The footage shows the assailant slap the victim’s glasses from her face, before punching her several times. Even after the woman crouches on the ground, the man kicks her multiple times, before eventually dragging her into the street by her hair, out of the camera’s view.
As of publication, the attack was not reported by the victim or any witnesses, so police do not know the identity of the suspect or victim. The owner was not present at the time of the attack and only became aware after reviewing the security footage.
The day following the incident, the video was forwarded by an unknown intermediary to Heise Haomen Enterprise Facebook group. After the clip was uploaded, it was soon discovered by Taiwanese police patrolling social media.
Police speculated that the two people involved may have some relationship. It may be that the attack was not reported by the victim because it is an issue of domestic abuse.
