partly the reason for relegation in 2019

--

Cardiff City is claiming 120 million euros from Nantes in compensation for its relegation from the Premier League in 2019. According to research by data agency Analytics FC, the relegation from the English league was partly due to the plane crash in which Emiliano Sala died.

The Argentine footballer would exchange French club Nantes for Cardiff City in January 2019. Only the Argentinian never arrived in south Wales. Sala and the pilot crashed near the Channel Islands. The footballer had sent his last messages to his friends before the flight, stating that the footballer was scared.

There was a 54.2 percent chance that Cardiff would continue playing in England’s top tier, according to the data agency. The financial loss due to the relegation and the resulting reputational damage is estimated at 120 million euros by financial expert Maurice Nussenbaum.

Not only Cardiff has submitted a claim for damages, but the French also want to see money. Nantes’ claim for damages is based on moral damage. At the time, Cardiff wanted to get under the transfer fee of seventeen million euros, because the Argentinian never arrived in Wales.
