He was already known for his television work in the Netherlands, but now Gert Verhulst (56) is also making waves there with his musicals. He received his first musical award for ‘The 3 Piglets’.

The performance by K3 won the audience award for best family musical on Wednesday evening Musical awards gala. In a response, the Studio 100 boss says he is pleased with the very first trophy that his production house in the Netherlands wins. “I would like to thank everyone in the Netherlands for this great prize. I am proud of everyone who worked hard for this. And we are happy that the Netherlands has embraced this new performance so en masse.”

It is already the third time that a tour of The 3 little pigs runs in the Netherlands. The first time was 21 years ago, when it was still with the original line-up of K3: Karen Damen, Kristel Verbeke and Kathleen Aerts. Also in 2007, the fairy tale was based on The wolf and the three little pigs, stepped up. Nowadays the leading roles are played by Marthe De Pillecyn (Knirri), Hanne Verbruggen (Knarri) and Julia Boschman (Knorri). Marie Verhulst takes on a different role.
