It is precisely the seasonal revelation that will destroy the great FC Barcelona. Girona completely outplayed its fellow countryman in the title race in two crazy minutes. Substitute Portu took the starring role. His unprecedented volley for 4-2 in particular will go around the world and will earn applause during Real Madrid’s title celebration.

A decisive title match could not begin with more action.
The fans who were late to their seats in Girona had already missed two goals. Defender Christensen opened the scoring for Barcelona, Dovbyk equalized within a minute.
A scorching start that obviously could not maintain that temperature. The visitors collapsed and had to shiver on the field of their fellow countryman. Ter Stegen kept his team straight and clenched his fists when Lewandowski scored an – unlucky for Girona – penalty just before half time.
Did the arch-rival postpone Real Madrid’s title celebration? Not if it depended on substitute Portu.
His input in minute 65 would be the turning point in the match. He immediately outwitted the Barcelona goalkeeper in the short corner. Two crazy minutes later it was actually 3-2 after a goal by Gutierrez.
A huge blow for Barcelona. Xavi saw from the sidelines that his players were in shock. Especially when Portu conjured up a wonderful volley. From the large rectangle he decided the title battle with a goal that went around the world.
And it is welcomed with cheers in Madrid. Real – with Courtois making his return today – is celebrating its 36th national title. Talk about a boost towards the second leg of the semi-finals in the Champions League.
Barcelona? That is currently 3rd in La Liga after 0 out of 6 against tormentor Girona.
