The Belgian women’s 4x400m relay team has qualified for Paris 2024. Naomi Van Den Broeck, Imke Vervaet, Camille Laus and Helena Ponette won their repechage race at the World Relays in the Bahamas last night. The 4x100m teams (m/f) did not succeed in their Olympic mission.

On Saturday, the Belgian Cheetahs could not get a direct ticket for Paris, as the Belgian Tornados and the mixed 4x400m relay did with a 1st and 2nd place respectively in the heats.

The Cheetahs had to go to the repechages after finishing third. There were still 6 OS tickets at stake, each for the top 2 of the 3 series.

Last night the 4 Belgian women walked resolutely to Paris with a win in their repechage series. With 3’26″79 they were faster than the day before. Naomi Van Den Broeck, Hanne Claes, Liefde Schoemaker and Helena Ponette ran 3’27″19 in the heats.

The Belgian Cheetahs had to make do without Cynthia Bolingo in the Bahamas. She dropped out with an Achilles tendon injury.

No 4x100m teams to Paris

The Belgian sprint teams in the 4x100m failed to reach the Games. The Belgian Falcons (m) had to abandon their match due to a bad stick change.

Kobe Vleminckx, Ward Merckx, Antoine Snyders and Simon Verherstraeten competed in the 3rd series of the repechages against South Africa and Australia, among others, who were able to get a ticket for Paris. Here too, there were 2 tickets per repechage race.

The Falcons were disqualified from the series on Saturday after a bad baton change. Kobe Vleminckx, Ward Merckx, Antoine Snyders and Valentijn Hoornaert ran for Belgium in the heats.

And the Belgian Rockets (v) also did not see their Olympic dream realized. Rani Vincke, Rani Rosius, Janie De Nayer and Delphine Nkansa finished in 4th place in the first repechage series in 43″17. Only the top 2 were allowed to go to Paris.

The Rockets were disqualified from the series on Saturday after a bad stick change. Rani Vincke, Rani Rosius, Elise Mehuys and Delphine Nkansa ran for Belgium in the heats.
