Terrible images at the finish of the Cyclis Bike Lease Classic, a 1.2 race for women. In the sprint for third place, about half of the peloton crashed at high speed. The screams of the injured riders go through my bones.
The Dutch Anne Knijnenburg had beaten the Italian Federica Venturelli in the sprint for victory and third place was still at stake in the peloton sprint. However, things went wrong when two riders collided on the left side. A domino effect caused a massive crash, with some riders hitting the ground very hard. Let’s hope the damage isn’t too bad.
