With four matchdays left in the Play-Offs, Marc Coucke is also gradually battling nerves. The man took over the Purple & White in 2017 but was plagued by personnel changes, fan protests and, above all, a slowing record champion. Coucke himself now came with a remarkable message.

From successful businessman to ‘pariah’

As successful as Coucke was in the business world and previously also in football at KV Oostende, things were difficult in his first years as owner of Anderlecht. The Purple & White seemed to go from one disappointment to the next, much to the dismay of the loyal supporters.

Keys in hands

These caused frequent protests and this year there finally seems to be a change. With a lot of (mainly) Danish quality, Fredberg made the team ‘title ready’ again. Whether Anderlecht will actually win its 35th title is still a big question mark.

The record champion will face a key match next Sunday in and against Union, a team against which it has lost frequently in recent years. The Purple & White also look vulnerable when away, not helped by a few injuries of course.

“Europa League semi-final?”

Owner Marc Coucke is already confident in a good outcome, earlier this week he shared a message on Instagram and now there was surprising news from the businessman.

For example, he had his many followers fire questions at him and one of them was: “Want to come second in the competition and, for example, reach the semi-finals in the Europa League or win the title?” Check out the clear answer below:
