This is the Giromanager team of Cycling Club Wattage: “Do you still believe in Quintana?!”

--

With the Giro just around the corner, puzzling is a must in the Giromanager. At Cycling Club Wattage they have already done their homework. “I’ve never had such a good team,” Tom Boonen is delighted.

In the spring they competed against each other, now they are joining forces.

The members of Cycling Club Wattage put their team together yesterday in the Giromanager. And they fixed that in 10 minutes.

“Geraint Thomas? He’s worn out. But he’s a cool guy. So we’ll take him,” he said.

In addition to no-brainers such as Tadej Pogacar, Olav Kooij and Jonathan Milan, there is also room for a 41-year-old guy: Domenico Pozzovivo.

“If Pozzovivo does not fall, he is always good in the Giro,” Bakelants knows. “And it only costs 4 million? We’ll take it.”

Guerreiro is a bargain. De Marchi will be in the flight 3 to 4 times.

Other notable names are Ruben Guerreiro (“for 4 million that is a bargain”) and Alessandro De Marchi (“he will be 3 to 4 times in the flight”).

Jan Bakelants eventually throws another name into the group that leads to disagreement: Nairo Quintana.

“Do you still believe in Quintana?” Uytterhoeven turns to Bakelants in disbelief. “Do you seriously still believe in him?”

Bakelants nods: “Quintana only costs 5 million. That’s interesting.”

Grachti di Merdi

Coming up with a creative team name took as long as putting together the entire team.

“We’re going to refer to our most popular story of this season: Toilet De strontgracht,” Ruben suggests after many fives and sixs.

“We have to translate that into Italian: WC Grachti di Merdi,” is what italophile Tom Boonen says, who played a leading role in the shit moat story. Listen to or watch his story from a few weeks ago below.
